Alice Ritter, one of our favorite up and coming designers.
The atmosphere at yesterday’s CFDA Fashion Incubator open house was one of pure excitement for the designers and the lucky few who got a chance to visit the premises. The incubator space houses 12 rising talents, all under one roof and presents them with the unique opportunity to work in an affordable, central location in the heart of NYC’s Garment District. Supporting the next generation has always been a goal of the CFDA and the designers represented are all on their way towards becoming household names. Yesterday’s event was a combination housewarming and meet n’ greet that gave the designers a chance to show off their new pads and talk to the press.
The diverse group represents a cross section of the current fashion scene; from avant garde jewelry designers, like Subversive Jewelry’s Justin Giunta, House of Waris’ Waris Ahluwalia and Gemma Redux’s Rachel Dooley, to luxe handbag designer Sang A, edgy menswear from Public School and forward thinking womenswear from Prabal Gurung, Alice Ritter and Bibhu Mohapatra, every facet is covered. The collective energy behind the project could be felt in each of the designer’s rooms where they shared their latest work as well as a few goodies for visitors. For a taste of the goings on (and a peek at pieces we loved) take a look at our special behind the scenes pictures.
